Waldorf Astoria opens – a new chapter in luxury

Hilton’s luxury hotel brand Waldorf Astoria has opened a new resort in the Maldives – The Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. It’s a 122-villa property spread over three interconnected islands in Male Atoll, half an hour from Velana International Airport.

Hilton has a few firsts in the Maldives and the world – it was the Maldives’ first international brand and premiered underwater dining and living to the realm of hospitality.

Unsurprisingly extravagant, the resort offers eleven specialty dining venues including The Ledge – a BBQ restaurant by Dave Pynt of Singapore-based Michelin-starred outlet Burnt Ends.

Exclusivity is taken to rarefied heights via Ithaafushi Private Island, a 32,000 square metre retreat that’s only accessible by yacht. This private enclave features a four-bedroom residence, a three-bedroom beach villa and a two-bedroom overwater villa. The island also has a dedicated chef and personal concierge team, an overwater spa and gym, five swimming pools, and an entertainment hub.

Ithaafushi promises a number of bespoke experiences. Lavish spa treatments at the Waldorf Astoria Spa, a forty-metre ‘Mirror Pool’ to chill out in, private sunset dinners on sandbanks, a PADI dive centre for underwater excursions are some of the highlights. Plus, there’s excitement for younger guests and families through the Waldorf Astoria Young Discovery Park and Lagoon Pool.

Even the most discerning can count on Ithaafushi to leave a lasting impression on them.
