Niyama Private Islands introduces surf therapy sessions

Niyama Private Islands is offering surf therapy sessions to guests, with visiting sports therapist Richard Inskip. The sessions are ongoing from the 1st of July and will continue until 31st August.  

Surfing enthusiasts are invited to take part in group sessions, as well as one-on-one training. Inskip is also offering daily group sessions at sundown, along with stretching and meditation.The sessions are available for professionals and novice surfers alike. 

Inskip is a passionate surfer, with a BSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Science. The British national’s clients include surf stars such as as South Africa’s Jordy Smith to Australia’s Mark Mathews, and Bryce Young. He is also the founder of MSD Pro Sport Therapy, a company that offers pre and post surf training with the latest techniques used in the surf world such as Stick Mobility that improves strength, stability and mobility, and Ginastica Natural that draws from Hatha Yoga, Capoeira and Brazilian jiu-jitsu to increase core power and balance.  

Iskip’s unique post-surf treatments aid recovery, improves rehabilitation and reduces the risk of injury. Massage techniques including Gratson (IASTM) with hand-held medical steel instruments to improve tissue function, traditional cupping to increase blood flow, and Myofascial therapy to restore mobility. 

Located in Dhaalu Atoll, Niyama offers the ultimate adventure for pro surfers and beginners alike. The resort also boasts great waves, with surf safaris at daybreak by seaplane or speedboat, followed by sunset rum and reggae music at the Surf Shack. Guests have the option to explore two islands, Play and Chill, with tree-top dining, an over-water spa and an underwater nightclub.
