Standard International debuts Maldives resort with special offer

American hotel brand Standard International has unveiled its first property in Asia, The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives. To celebrate, the luxury resort is offering an exciting opening package for guests. 

Located in Raa Atoll, the resort is a 40-minute seaplane ride away from Velana International Airport. Alternatively, travellers can take a 20-minute domestic flight to Dharanvandhoo, followed by a 35-minute speed boat ride to the resort. 

The Standard opening rates start from $395 per night, which includes accommodation with buffet breakfast at the resort’s all-day dining restaurant. 

Huruvalhi Maldives features 115 beach and water villas with private pools in 8 categories.  

The resort offers guided diving and snorkeling through its naturally protected house reef, sunset boat excursions, trips to uninhabited islands and undiscovered reefs, as well as night fishing and private destination dining. A daily programming schedule offers a host of activities such as basket-weaving, deep-sea fishing, natural indigo dye workshops, and a floating outdoor cinema under the stars.  

According to the resort, its cuisine is inspired by the bounty and beauty of the Indian Ocean and regional tropics, and are guided by The Standard’s commitment to authenticity.  

Local cuisine as well as international classics are on offer. According to the resort, its authentic Maldivian restaurant Guduguda, is the first of its kind in the Maldives. The restaurant features traditional celebratory food, cooked by local “aunties”. Its Kula restaurant offers all-day dining featuring American, European, Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. BBQ SHAK, meanwhile, offers a casual beach dining experience where guests can enjoy seafood and meats grilled over coconut charcoal. 

The Joos Cafe’ serves coffee, smoothies and juices, along with salads and sandwiches, making it the perfect spot for a mid-day treat or a light lunch. There are three bars; Todis, Beru and Tonic. Todis bar offers drinks flavored with local toddy, along with light snacks. The Beru Bar, the resort’s over-water club, features a glass dance floor and a live DJ. Tonic is the swim-up wellness bar perched on the edge of the over-ocean pool at The Standard Spa. Its mixologists create flavourful cocktails and elixirs made from herbs and plants, the perfect compliment to the spa treatments. 

The Standard Spa is a complete indoor hydrotherapy playground complete with a contemporary communal hammam, aroma cypress steam room and contrast shower experience. The Spa offers sweeping ocean views from its nine private treatment rooms, couples den, and yoga studio. Its Sun Lounge experience offers crystals and an apothecary for the body and mind.
