You know it’s going to be an interesting read when a hotelier begins a piece with a quote from Osho, as Soneva’s Sonu Shivdasani has in a recent op-ed piece: “There is no virus in the world more deadly than fear,” Osho said, and it encapsulates our tension-fraught times.
Travelling and spending quality time with friends and family on holidays are what makes life worth living, Sonu writes. And he adds his voice to a growing crowd that’s dissatisfied with the way governments around the world have handled the epidemic.
He mentions Lord Sumption, a former British Supreme Court Judge who said there was no factual basis for panic and no legal basis for the coronavirus measures and that 2020 will be seen in the future as a ‘monument of collective hysteria and folly.’
Meanwhile, Sweden’s approach to the virus has left them no worse than those that have taken extreme measures, Sonu observes.
The gist of it is that the toll of anti-virus procedures taken to safeguard us from the spread is greater than the harm the virus can inflict on us.
Despite these sentiments, Soneva properties are extremely cautious, taking great care to ensure that their guests and staff are free of COVID-19.
