The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation is participating in the SATTE travel fair in India along with 33 industry partners to promote the destination and maintain brand visibility.
South Asia’s leading business-to-business exhibition and the biggest networking forum for the region’s tourism professionals, SATTE 2022 is taking place from 18 to 20 May in New Delhi.
The marketing strategy for the crucial Indian market “focuses on promoting Maldives as a safe haven for the travellers and promotes the message through travel trade professionals to potential tourists,” the MMPRC explained. “It focuses to ensure that Maldives remains as a preferred destination, to maintain and strengthen the destination presence in this market. Through such activities we aim to provide a platform for industry partners to showcase their products in order to achieve pre-pandemic arrival numbers from the Indian market.”
The MMPRC plans to carry out several virtual and in-person activities such as major marketing campaigns with stakeholders, webinars, roadshows and familiarisation trips.
The Maldives has become the beach vacation destination of choice for Indians over the past few years. Picking up its pre-pandemic growth trajectory, India became the top market for Maldives tourism in 2021 with 278,740 holidaymakers. Some 79,562 Indian tourists have visited so far this year as of 11 May, representing a market share of 12.7% as the second-largest source market.
