The tourism ministry has invited nominations for special awards to honour industry stakeholders for their services and contribution to the Maldives tourism sector over the past 50 years.
The ‘President’s Tourism Golden Awards’ will be conferred in commemoration of the Maldives Tourism Golden Jubilee this year. The awards will be handed out at a special golden jubilee ceremony on 3 October, which was recently declared a public holiday to be marked as National Tourism Day.
The award’s categories will cover “areas related to the tourism development in the country and targeted for the tourism sector staff and service providers,” according to the ministry.
Nominations can be submitted online before a deadline of 2 pm on Sunday, 11 September.
Last week, the tourism ministry also accepted nominations to compile a database of “personalities who have made significant contributions to the tourism sector” for more than 30 years.
