IndiGo Airlines has announced plans to introduce direct flights to the Maldives from Chennai and Hyderabad.
From the 1st of November, IndiGo will commence flights to Velana International Airport from Chennai every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Scheduled flights from Hyderabad are set to operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The largest in India by fleet size, IndiGo currently operates flights to Malé from Bangalore and Mumbai.
India is the top tourist market to the Maldives with 156,644 arrivals as of 7 September. India was also the largest market in 2021 with 278,740 holidaymakers and a 22.6% market share.
