Villa Hotels and Resorts signed an MoU last week to provide structured internship programmes and full-time employment opportunities for Maldives National University students.
The objectives of the agreement signed between Villa and the MNU’s Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Studies include “developing and nurturing a pool of learned young adults with a strong sense of practicality, good hands-on skills, and a high level of organisational and business awareness and familiarity,” according to the local company.
Villa and MNU will also seek to “develop a wide range of collaborative activities” aimed at fostering a new generation of highly-skilled workers for the Maldives tourism industry and “assist in implementing nation-building strategies”.
“The agreement will also enable a better understanding of the current employment opportunities at Villa Hotels and Resorts, improve job opportunities and create access to work opportunities across the country,” Villa explained.
Villa’s collection of award-winning resorts in the Maldives includes Sun Island Resort & Spa, Royal Island Resort & Spa and Paradise Island Resort & Spa.
