JOALI BEING has hosted an immersive culinary workshop for students of Maduvvaree school with visiting Chef Patrick Godborg. Some 12 students from the 8th and 9th grades interested in the culinary sector participated to learn about sustainable and organic cooking concepts.

The resort also hosted a workshop to commemorate World Sleep Day with Chef Godborg and Executive Chef Richard Siahaan.

In addition to two workshops, Chef Godborg also hosted a unique dining experience for the resort’s guests. The five-course signature menu featured tastes of Scandinavia such as Nordic-style sustainable fish with pumpkin and traditional Danish cream puffs infused with local ingredients that promote good sleep.

Chef Godborg is the Head Chef of the acclaimed Restaurant Radio in Copenhagen. He found his passion for cooking at a young age. He found that he loved being creative in the kitchen and giving people a good experience. As a culinary student, he worked at several Michelin-starred restaurants, such as the world-renowned Nova.

Chef Godborg aims to promote sustainable cooking. The products he uses are 70% organic or biodynamic.

“From conducting virtual education sessions for university students on International Women’s Day to hosting an appreciation event for healthcare workers on International Nurses’ Day, the team has made it a priority to support and empower neibouring island communities,” the resort said.

“The wellbeing retreat has also created multiple hospitality internships for Maldivian aspirants to inspire the next generation, as part of JOALI’s ongoing community outreach programmes”
