Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) is exhibiting the Maldives’ luxury experiences at the flagship show of International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM), ILTM Cannes 2023. Hosted at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès from 4th to 7th December 2023, the event began with the Global Forum on the first day with presentations which captured the essence of the current luxury travel industry.
Amilla Fushi, Bliss Maldives, Cora Cora Maldives, Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa Fasmendhoo, Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives, Robinson Club Maldives, Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives, and Universal Resorts are the companies taking part in the event, showcasing their offerings to the global hospitality market. The Maldives’ stand at ILTM Cannes 2023 reflects the aspects of luxury tourism through visuals showcasing luxury resorts, liveaboards, experiences and the unique geography of the destination.
Given that Maldives is currently one of the leading luxury destinations in the world, MMPRC is focused on targeting the luxury and affluent segments of it and maintaining Maldives as a premium destination in major markets. ILTM is an opportune platform to engage with the luxury buyers from Maldives’ main markets including France, United States, UK, Germany, and Italy and provide a glimpse of the luxury products, services, and experiences Maldives has to offer.
The top 10 markets to the Maldives this year are Russia, India, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, United States, France, Spain and Switzerland. 1,678,639 tourists were recorded to have arrived in Maldives by November this year, which is a 9.41% increase compared to 2022. In its mission to promote Maldives, MMPRC has successfully conducted a total of 348 marketing activities so far this year.
The World Travel Awards, held at Dubai’s Burj Al-Arab, United Arab Emirates (UAE), honored Maldives with several prestigious awards this year. The title of World’s Leading Destination was awarded to Maldives for the fourth consecutive year and MMPRC won World’s Leading Tourist Board for the second year in a row. In addition to this, the Maldives also received the newly-introduced Global Tourism Resilience Award at this event, given for strategically building capacity to recover swiftly and thrive after disruptions.
