Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives), along with 17 co-exhibitors from the Maldives tourism industry, promoted the local tourism industry at Kazakhstan International Travel Fair (KITF) 2024 that was held from 24th to 26th April in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
From KITF’s inception in 2001, the fair offers a comprehensive platform for industry professionals across the region and is considered to be the pinnacle event of the sector in Kazakhstan. MMPRC and industry partners were able to make connections with potential agents and buyers from Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region, showcasing the unique offerings of the Maldives to a targeted audience.
The Maldivian stand at KITF 2024 enabled visitors to engage with the Russian and CIS travel trade to learn more about the destination and explore partnership opportunities. Visitors were also able to access destination information through various channels, including QR Codes incorporated in the artworks displayed throughout the fair. Additionally, press packs containing the latest updates about the Maldives and highlights from MMPRC’s travel and hospitality partners were distributed. Calligraphy bookmarks were distributed as a memento and promotional videos were displayed.
As of 16th April 2024, Maldives has welcomed 68,919 tourists from Russia. The CIS region is a significant region for the Maldivian tourism industry, notably with Russia holding its position as the second top source market to the Maldives in 2024, so far. MMPRC also took part in the Moscow Dive Show earlier this year.
