Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives marked International Chefs Day 2024 with the theme ‘Growing Great Chefs,’ recognizing the talent and creativity of chefs who are shaping the future of culinary experiences in hospitality. The event, held on 20th and 21st October, brought together the resort’s culinary team and guests, with a series of activities that highlighted the fun of cooking and the global diversity of cuisine.
The occasion kicked off with a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony, bringing together chefs, team members, and guests to honor the dedication and skill of the culinary team. A range of activities for children were included, such as hanging doughnut challenges and cookie decoration sessions. Adults participated in beer challenges and an omelet-making competition. A special raffle draw rewarded participants with prizes.
The highlight of the event was the World Street Food Market buffet dinner at the resort’s Sunrise Beach on 21st October, where guests were transported on a gastronomic journey around the globe. Each chef, hailing from various nationalities, represented their home country at food stalls featuring signature dishes.
Reflecting on the event, General Manager Hassan Adil shared his thoughts on the significance of this year’s theme during his opening speech, “At Sun Siyam Olhuveli, we believe in transforming culinary experiences in hospitality by empowering our chefs to push boundaries, embrace diversity, and craft exceptional dishes that bring joy to the table of our guests. Growing great chefs isn’t just about teaching culinary skills; it’s about nurturing passion, creativity, and a deep respect for food.”
