The World Luxury Spa and Restaurant Awards recognised LUX* South Ari Atoll as the best luxury spa in the Indian Ocean.
These awards are presented on a country, regional, continental and global basis. Winners are selected by public vote online.
This year’s event took place at The State Hermitage Museum Official Hotel in St Petersburg, Russia. The fourth event of its kind, it saw the participation of over 200 guests from around the world, representing more than 90 countries, 450 spas and 270 restaurants.
“We are extremely honoured and proud to defend this position as we constantly strive to innovate, develop therapy practises and take on new challenges. Thanks to our hardworking team, we have taken our services to the next level, always with the quality and luxury at the core of everything we take on. This is yet a milestone on our journey together with our lovely guests, and we are excited to keep going,” says Sindy Lagare, director of wellness & spa at LUX* South Ari Atoll.
“We congratulate this year’s winners. True luxury is not easily attained. It takes highly efficient and dedicated staff, who are willing to go the extra mile and stop at nothing to ensure that every guest feels cared for and no challenge goes unresolved. This is the definition of luxury. It is what makes the winners shine,” says World Luxury Awards group marketing director Michael Hunter-Smith.
LUX* properties in the Maldives are known for their quirky, laidback approach to luxury.
“We saw a window of opportunity at the very top end of the market for a resort operator that wasn’t as predictable and static as more conventional luxury brands,” said Julian Hagger, now vice president of the Lux Collective, speaking to Hotel Insider last year. “This level of creativity and unique experience is appealing to our clientele who seek new types of holiday experiences and this has resulted in significant growth in demand for our brand.”
