Niyama Private Islands Maldives is inviting guests to ‘play’ or ‘chill’ on twin islands throughout the festive season. The season will officially kick off with the lighting of the Christmas tree and the arrival of Santa on a catamaran.
A traditional Christmas market will be held on the beach, complete with eggnog, mulled wine and caroling. The multi-day Christmas feast will kick off with a Christmas Eve Gala buffet, followed by a Christmas Day barbecue roast and an Ibiza-style pool party. Maldivian-themed dinners, wine and cheese tastings, and Champagne-pairing dinners promise to take guests on a culinary journey.
Three legendary chefs will fly in to host exclusive dinners throughout the festive season.
Hervé Rodriguez – known as the “manipulator of flavours” – and owner of MaSa Paris will serve up his signature contemporary flavours. The owner of Parisian bistro L’Assiette, David Rathgeber, will create traditional French gastronomy. Alexandre Polmard, famous for creating the world’s most expensive steak, will present exquisite dry-aged beef dishes. Polmard is a sixth generation butcher who has revolutionised the process of aging beef. Niyama invites guests to savour world-class beef dishes crafted by Polmard paired with light New World wines.
Entertainment highlights include famed magician Laura London from The Next Great Magician, along with the Spark! theatre troupe, Salsa Con Soul and the award-winning Swing Latino collective.
Niyama’s Explorer Kids’ Club will host a superhero costume party and a New Year’s masquerade. Kids can also enjoy Christmas arts and crafts. Teens, meanwhile, can have fun in their own corner of the island with an outdoor gym, and enjoy DJ workshops, cinema under the stars, and mocktails on the beach.
Adults can hide away at Drift Spa, indulging in massages, IV drips and the Hollywood services of visiting practitioners. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. David Alessi promises no-downtime face lifts with Botox and fillers. Gopal Govindasamy, Muayad Najemeddin and Banu Alagoz will lead guests through Eastern healing treatments, from singing bowls, Reiki and Ayurveda to Watsu and Kundalini Yoga.
Other recommended experiences include setting sail on a Dream dhoni for a castaway adventure of island hopping, snorkelling and dinner on a sandbank. Guests can also experience Food Play cooking classes to master the arts of Thai, Maldivian, Mediterranean or African cuisine.
