The Meeru Island and Niyama Private Island Beach resorts in the Maldives are ranked top among the world’s most beautiful natural locations, according to a study by holiday operator Kuoni.

Niyama topped the list of most eye-catching beaches and Meeru was the second most eye-catching natural wonder. The UK’s leading tour operator used eye-tracking software to rank 61 spots across the globe.

The stunning beach and lagoon of the islands grabbed people’s attention the most alongside spectacular natural landscapes in the US and UK as well as in Canada, New Zealand, Philippines, Chile, Puerto Rico, UAE, Vietnam, Greece, Italy and Thailand.

The “crystal clear blue waters and white sands” of Niyama Private Island “really does look like it’s in paradise,” Kuoni enthused. Meeru Island, accessible only by boat, was described as “a dreamy destination for those looking to escape to somewhere beautiful” as the luxury resort features “beach and water villas for visitors to unwind and experience the trip of a lifetime.”
