Ooredoo Maldives launches Golden Year SIM pack for tourists

Local telco Ooredoo introduced a new ‘Golden Year’ SIM pack for tourists as part of its celebration of the 50th anniversary of tourism in the Maldives. 

Launched on Tuesday (4 January) by Thoyyib Mohamed, managing director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), the special SIM pack includes data allowances for social media with a one-month validity.

“We are super excited as the whole nation gears up to celebrate its Golden Jubilee Year in tourism,” said Ooredoo Maldives Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz. “We are pleased to be a part of the celebration and make this year even more colorful. Our launch of Magey Raajje Calendar and the Golden Year SIM pack is a just the beginning of the activities planned for the year.”

MMPRC MD Thoyyib lauded “Ooredoo’s efforts in ensuring that travellers are connected with the world as they vacation in the sunny side of life.”

After the Maldives reopened borders in July 2020, Ooredoo partnered with the tourism ministry, MMPRC and Orca Media Group for a destination marketing campaign dubbed “Visit Maldives Now” that reached its international network of over 117 million people across 10 countries.
