Almost 100 percent of resort workers have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and 97.5 percent were fully vaccinated as of 25 January, according to a weekly update from the tourism ministry.
A total of 3,026 tourism frontline employees were also administered the booster shot as of 26 January. A Pfizer vaccine booster dose was offered earlier this month to all residents who completed two doses six months ago.
More than 41,000 people work in the Maldives tourism industry.
Tourist covid cases detected from 1 to 26 January meanwhile stood at 0.6 percent of arrivals, up from 0.3 percent in 2021.
