Social media posts by a group of prominent Indian influencers about their trip to the Maldives are estimated to have reached 5.7 million people.

The celebrities – Ashi Kanna, Shruti Sinha, Mehak Ghai and Aashna Malani – were invited for a familiarisation trip from 7 to 11 April by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation. Sun Island Resort & Spa and LE Meridien Resort & Spa hosted the group.

During their stay in the luxury resorts, the team enjoyed “several adventurous and leisure experiences in the Maldives such as snorkeling, spa and wellness facilities, watersports, and other unique Maldivian experiences” and “discovered haute gourmet cuisines unique to each property,” according to the MMPRC.

The influencers, who are estimated to have a combined reach of 5.7 million followers, promoted the highlights of their Maldives holiday on digital and social media platforms.

The MMPRC announced the familiarisation trip at an event held at the Westin Garden City, Mumbai on 6 April.

The Maldives has become the beach vacation destination of choice for Indians over the past few years. Picking up its pre-pandemic growth trajectory, India became the top market for Maldives tourism in 2021 with 278,740 holidaymakers. So far in 2022, the Maldives has welcomed 65,412 Indian tourists as of 27 April, representing a share of 11.7% as the second-largest source market.
