The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation along with 13 industry partners took part in the TTF Travel & Tourism Fair in Kolkata from 1st to 3rd July.
The Maldives exhibited as the Partner Country of this year’s edition of TTF, India’s leading exhibition for the hospitality industry, which offers an annual opportunity for domestic and international organisations to showcase their products and services and to connect directly with the largest gathering of prospective travellers and members of the travel industry. The visitors included tour operators, travel agents, airlines, hoteliers and other travel and trade professionals.
The MMPRC along with Riu Maldives and Sun Siyam Iruveli gave a special ‘Destination Presentation’ detailing the holiday experiences available in the ‘World’s Leading Destination.’
After the fair, the MMPRC – together with 16 industry partners as well as potential operators and agents from India – is gearing up to conduct ‘Maldives Roadshows’ in Bangalore, Chennai, and Trivandrum on the 5th, 7th, and 8th of July, respectively. To be held under the theme ‘Connect with Maldives, Your Ultimate Destination Maldives Roadshow in India,’ the roadshows will feature destination presentations highlighting the products, experiences, and latest travel guidelines, which will be followed by a night of networking and a special raffle to award a free holiday in the Maldives.
With the events, the MMPRC “aims to maintain our destination presence and promote the Maldives as the world’s leading destination in the Indian market alongside industry partners.” The marketing strategy for the Indian market is “based on conducting ambient campaigns to strengthen Maldives’ brand in all major cities, identify channels to access the luxury market segment, promote affordable holiday options and focus on specific advertising for honeymooners and family holidays, combined with guest house stays.”
India was the top market in 2021 with over 278,740 holidaymakers and a 22.6% market share. India remains the largest source market for the Maldives this year as well with 119,967 tourist arrivals as of 29 June.
The MMPRC’s activities targeting the Indian market include ongoing joint-marketing campaigns with prominent partners such as Thomas Cook, Pickyourtrail, and Vistara Inflight Magazine as well as participation in major fairs such SATTE and OTM.
