Chef Maha Naseer, creative culinary director at the Oaga Art Resort, has become the first Maldivian to be awarded the prestigious title of Master Chef from the World Master Chef Society.

With over 200 members across 50 countries, the UK-based organisation is one of the most highly regarded culinary societies in the world with many members having achieved Michelin star status. Chefs who are awarded the worldwide recognised title also receive the acclaimed Culinary Order of Merit medal, a framed diploma in culinary excellence and a personalised World Master Chefs Society jacket.

A culinary arts graduate from Singapore’s Creative Culinare, Maha is among the few female executive chefs and also serves as secretary-general of the Chefs Guild of Maldives.

According to Oaga, her role at the resort will be to “elevate the culinary journey with artistically experimental creations, fun innovations and a fusion of local culture.” Located in North Malé Atoll about 40 minutes by speedboat from the airport, Oaga Art Resort is scheduled to open in the final quarter of 2022.
