Appointments at Maldives resorts this week.
Resort: The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo
Position: Executive Chef
Appointee: Jorge Colazo
What They Said: Jorge Colazo brings almost two decades of experience to the job, working at top kitchens around the world including Michelin-star restaurants.
Hailing from Argentina, Colazo completed his culinary studies at the Argentine Institute of Gastronomy and Le Corden Bleu, Paris. Fuelled by his passion for experiencing new cultures and cuisines, he set off to explore the world. The journey inspired him and helped improve his skills and develop his own signature cooking style.
His career took him from Argentina to Spain and Mexico and the United States, where he worked at several top restaurants, including the three-Michelin starred Arzak and the two-Michelin-star restaurant Aquavit in New York.
In 2017, he took on the role of Executive Sous Chef at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London. He then went on to serve as the Head Chef of Aster Restaurant in Victoria and later took up the same position at the Michelin-starred restaurant Aquavit restaurant in London as well. In 2021, Colazo joined the pre-opening team at The Westin London City.

Resort: Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa
Position: Spa Manager
Appointee: Ary Haryani
What They Said: Haryani has worked at some of the leading resorts across Asia and will bring her vast knowledge and expertise to the Explore Spa at Le Meridien.
She began her career at Banyan Tree Bintan, Indonesia, going on to work at several luxury properties such as Conrad Maldives, Grand Hyatt Macau, Montigo Resort, Indonesia, JA Manafaru Maldives, and Crossroads Maldives. To further enhance her wellness knowledge, Haryani is training to become a yoga teacher.
