The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) along with 64 industry partners participated at the OTM Mumbai, India’s biggest travel and trade exhibition. The fair took place from 2 to 4 February at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
The exclusive business-to-business travel market connects exhibitors and visitors with travel trade partners from India and beyond, strengthens existing business relations, and accommodates the creation of mutually beneficial relations for all parties. It also provides industry partners the opportunity to promote their individual products and properties.
“The MMPRC connected with travel trade from the Indian Market, shared the latest updates about the Maldives, its products, services and experiences in order to maintain destination presence as one of the preferred holiday destinations for all segments of Indian tourists,” the MMPRC said.
Two raffle draws were also conducted during the fair, awarding two lucky winners a free holiday sponsored by Adaaran Club Rannalhi and Furaveri Maldives. To participate in the raffle draws, visitors to the Maldives’ stand were asked to fill a survey form. Visitors also got the opportunity to experience a 360° video booth, an exciting technology that uses a revolving camera, allowing visitors to take pictures and videos immersed in the beauty of the Maldives.
Since the Maldives reopened its borders in July 2020, Indian tourists have been essential for the recovery of the tourism industry. India was the top source market to the Maldives last year with 241,369 tourists, representing a 14.4% market share. The MMPRC has been conducting several promotional activities targeting the neighbouring market to maintain destination momentum. Similar activities are planned for this year as well.
