COMO Hotels and Resorts has announced a Space Summer Camp series for children and teenagers, led by veteran NASA astronaut Nicole Stott and Citizen Astronaut Sara Sabry.
Young explorers are invited to become Island Astronauts in a series of Space Camps at the brand’s island resorts in Thailand, Bali and the Maldives.
The camps will provide aspiring young astronauts with the opportunity to discover a host of activities that promise adventure while learning about the universe. Kids from ages 8 to 16 will learn about space through art, food and movement with astronauts Nicole Stott and Sara Sabry.
Guests can join in at any point while the camp is running, to enjoy a fun-filled itinerary of space-themed experiences which include:
- Moon Rock Scavenger Hunt
- Blast Off! – make a rocket from baking soda
- Food in Space
- Space Games and more
From 28 July to 6 August, the immersive camp at COMO Maalifushi will be led by Citizen Astronaut Sara Sabry, the first Arab woman in space. Sabry was selected as the world’s second Citizen Astronaut, in a program by Space for Humanity where all civilians have the opportunity to apply to become a trained astronaut.
Following the resort’s exclusive two-week Island Warriors: Earth Camp, guests can participate a fun-filled itinerary of space-themed activities that include Spacesuit Design, a beach clean-up, and a session for creating food for astronauts. Other activities exclusive to the resort include star gazing with Sara Sabry, and a ‘Movie Under the Stars’ evening.
Participation in the Space Summer Camp will be offered on a complimentary basis during the astronauts’ residency.
