Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives appoints new General Manager

Barceló Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Santiago Rodriguez-Bustelo as the General Manager of Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives, the group’s new 5-star resort in South Ari Atoll.

With a career spanning over 20 years in the hospitality industry, Rodriguez-Bustelo brings a wealth of expertise and experience to his new role. He has successfully led operations in various prestigious properties across the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to joining Barceló Hotel Group, Rodriguez-Bustelo served as the General Manager of Nova Maldives. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in enhancing the guest experience and elevating the resort’s reputation. Before that, he held the position of Resort Manager at Fihalhohi Island Resort, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the unique demands of the Maldivian hospitality market.

As General Manager of Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives, Rodriguez-Bustelo will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the resort’s operations, ensuring the highest standards of service and guest satisfaction.

Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives is the group’s first property in the Maldives, slated for August, with Barceló Nassandhura Hotel under development in Malé City. The hotel group has also undergone a joint venture with Browns Investments to develop and manage a complex of three resorts, the Bodufaru complex, in North Male’ Atoll.
