The tourism ministry is conducting a series of tourism career awareness sessions for schools across the country in collaboration with the education ministry. The first session took place on 13 August.
The programme aims to educate students on the wide range of career opportunities available in the tourism industry.
As part of the programme, tourism ministry officials with support from local experts in the industry are visiting schools and providing information to students, teachers and parents of grades 8 to 12.
The programme will cover 51 schools from 20 atolls in the Maldives and is expected to be completed by the first week of September.
According to the tourism ministry, as of 17 August, 12 sessions covering secondary schools from the Greater Malé area, Thaa and Laamu atolls have been completed.
