A group of travel agents from leading travel agencies from India arrived in the Maldives on Saturday (16 July) for a week-long familiarisation trip organised by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relation Corporation.
The team of representatives from I’m Travel Agent, MakeMyTrip, Nivalink, Aspen Vacations, and Holiday Karma is hosted at Grand Park Kodhipparu, Crossroads Maldives and Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa.
“The purpose of this trip is to create awareness in the Indian market about how the Maldives has recovered as a destination after the pandemic and the unique products and experiences on offer for visitors,” according to the MMPRC.
“The team will be able to market Maldives’ holidays with more precision and dedication after experiencing our products and service standards for themselves. This is the target we aim to achieve with our familiarisation trips for travel agents across the world.”
The MMPRC hopes the familiarisation trip would boost arrivals and bookings from India.
India is the top source market for tourists this year with 123,687 holidaymakers as of 5 July, representing a 14.8% market share. India was also the largest source market in 2021 with 278,740 holidaymakers and a market share of 22.6%.
The MMPRC’s activities targeting the key market has included an e-learning campaign with 2HUB, influencer and celebrity familiarisation trips, participation in fairs such as OTM 2022, Satte 2022, and TTF 2022, as well as a series of special Maldives Roadshows in different Indian cities.
