Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the ultra-low-fare national airline of the UAE, plans to commence flights to the Maldives from 4 October.
Tickets are now on sale on the airline’s website and mobile app with fares starting from AED319 with four flights a week from Abu Dhabi to Malé on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. According to the airline, the new route unlocks affordable travel options for both UAE residents and self-connecting passengers travelling from Central and Eastern Europe via the Wizz Air network.
“We are particularly excited about the launch of flights to the Maldives, a tropical paradise destination high up on travellers’ bucket list,” said Owain Jones, Development Officer at Wizz Air. “The WIZZ team looks forward to welcoming customers onboard our young and green aircraft very soon.”
The flights will be operated on a brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft, which offers the lowest environmental footprint.
In 2021, the Maldives welcomed 91,413 holidaymakers from the Middle Eastern with Saudi Arabia ranked as the seventh-largest source market for tourists. Growth from the relatively new market is on track to continue with more than 19,000 Middle Eastern tourists visiting during the first two months of the year.
