Maldives nominated for ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination’ title at World Travel Awards

The Maldives has been nominated for ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination’ at the 30th annual World Travel Awards. The country will compete with Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion Island and Seychelles for the award. 

The Maldives was also nominated for several other awards in the Indian Ocean category including Leading Island Destination, Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, Leading Beach Destination, Leading Cruise Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination, Leading Dive Destination, Leading Green Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination and Leading Wedding Destination.

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation was also nominated for Indian’s Ocean’s Leading Tourist Board award. 

Last year, the Maldives won the ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination’ for the third year in a row, as well as winning ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination’ and ‘Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination’ titles. The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) won the award for ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Tourist Board’.
